Dear Rusty, I am a 16-year-old Japanese girl. I have learned in my English class that you are the mother of women’s judo. I was surprised to know that, because I had thought it would be a Japanese woman. I have never done judo, but I like to watch judo championships on TV. I am happy because Japanese women are very good at judo. In fact, in the 2012 London Olympics, we got three medals in women’s judo. Today judo is practiced all over the world. We should not forget what you did for women’s judo. I like your message, “I’ll always fight for what is fair.” Like you, I would like to do what is right. Sincerely, Mika Ikeda |
