The twenty-six-year-old mother /
looked down at her son /
who was dying of leukemia. //
Her heart was filled with sadness. //
Like any parent, /
she kept thinking about her son’s future. //
She wanted her son /
to grow up and fulfill all his dreams. //
Now that was no longer possible, /
but she still wanted her son’s dreams to come true. //

She took her son’s hand and asked, /
“Bopsy, /
did you ever think about what you want to be /
when you grow up? /
Did you ever dream /
about what you want to do with your life?” //
“Mommy, /
I’ve always wanted to be a firefighter,” /
he replied. //
His mother smiled back and said, /
“Let’s see /
if we can make your dream come true.” //

Later that day, /
she went to the local fire department /
in Phoenix, /
Arizona. //
She met Firefighter Bob there. //
