Draco was established by Claudius Ptolemy and is constellation that is visible in the northern sky almost all year round and never sinks below the horizon.

There are many theories about Draco, but one is that it was a fire-breathing dragon that guarded a golden apple tree in the garden of the Hesperides, at the western edge of the world.

According to legend, the dragon accidentally dozed off and the apples were stolen, but as a reward for watching over the apple tree for a long time, the apples were made into constellation.

Ancient Egyptian Civilization

One of the unique constellation invented by the ancient Egyptians was constellation Lelet, or Hippopotamus. Swiss researcher Kurt Locher estimated the northern sky map in his research.

The head of the constellation is formed by the stars Pi, Rho, ε, Tau, Uxis and Draco.

Hippopotamuses have lived in the Nile basin since at least the New Kingdom, and hippopotamus statues and hippopotamus goddesses are said to have been worshiped.
